About the Club . . . .

The Golden Gate Top of the Hill Gang (GGTOTHG) is a non-profit membership club of friends interested in skiing and socializing together. We are primarily mature adults and families with many retired members able to take advantage of less crowded weekdays at ski resorts. We also gather for various non-skiing activities throughout the year – hiking, cultural visits, multi-day outings, parties, etc.

Membership is based in the San Francisco Bay Area with members living throughout northern CA and having substantial concentrations around Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. We also have a similar sister club in southern CA. Our members include those of all skiing abilities and preferences, including many who are non-skiers. Dues are still $35. The club is managed by an elected volunteer board supported by several committees to make things happen.

Within CA , we do most of our skiing in the Lake Tahoe area and at Mammoth. (For skiing outside CA, see the section below on the 70 Plus Ski Club.) Major north Tahoe areas include Northstar, Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley & Alpine Meadows) and Sugar Bowl. Major south Tahoe areas include Heavenly Valley, Sierra-At-Tahoe, and Kirkwood. Typical club-organized ski trips consist of 4-5 weekdays days at a local resort rental home or lodging. We usually gather for lunch on the mountain and frequently socialize after skiing. Given the multiple skiing options in the Tahoe basin, members may have the option to ski at several locations during a trip. Some trips split time between the north and south Tahoe regions. Members may attend for the full period or join for only a portion of the time depending on their schedules and priorities. Costs are shared among participating members. In addition to trips scheduled by the club, members sometimes organize their own trips via the club forums. We sometimes have discounted hotel rooms available for independent visits.

Outside CA, many of our members participate in trips organized by the 70 Plus Ski Club. 70+ is a national membership club that schedules trips, usually about a week long, at major US & Canadian ski areas. The schedule usually also includes at least one trip to Europe, South America or the Far East offering opportunities for both skiing and sightseeing. Our CA members frequently make up a significant share of the 70+ trips and so continue to ski together as well as with the broader 70+ membership. We include most 70+ trips on our calendar. More information is available at the 70+ website https://70plusskiclub.org . 70+ dues are $15, and again, members share the costs of trips, usually good value. Discounted lift tickets are available for those without one of the national passes. Many 70+ trips are extremely popular and fill up quickly.
